Book Review: The Heroine’s Journey
The Heroine’s Journey by Gail Carriger
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I just finished the book. I’m feeling enlightened, and much more knowledgeable about myths and archetypes. I’m looking forward to digging back into my next novel-in-process and checking the chassis to make sure it’s built correctly to hold the vehicle I’m dropping on it.
Gail’s friendly, conversational, intimate way of speaking does not water down her exceptionally well-researched wealth of information. It all flows, in harmony. I recommend this book to any writer of fiction – but especially writers of Young Adult fiction.
I wasn’t surprised to learn that my first novel is a Heroine’s Journey, but I WAS surprised to realize that a Hero on his journey crosses/compliments my Heroine’s path. That was a fun ah-ah moment.
I appreciated a certain comparison of books and Rueben sandwiches, and will do my best to keep that advice in mind always. Thanks… (I’m looking at YOU, Gail.)
