Book Review: Twits Abroad: A Steampunk Distraction
Twits Abroad: A Steampunk Distraction by Tom Alan Robbins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
While book 2 of The Twits Chronicles still remains my favorite of the series (and probably will always be), book 3 is certainly no slouch. We are introduced to a new character, the memory-impaired, unfortunately available and marriageable, Euphonia Gumboot. Her name alone is enough to send me into gigglefits every time I read it.
In this latest adventure, a dirigible bound for New York City is filled with twits and an assortment of relatives, servants, and of course – let me stifle myself – Miss Euphonia Gumboot. Drat, I giggled in spite of my precautions.
It’s a fun, fast-reading romp of course, as a Steampunk Distraction should be. I absolutely adored the mockery of social media, performed in a manner only twits would attempt. The wordsmithery is, as always, above average. I read the story in one gulp and then returned to my comparatively humdrum life. I’m already thinking about when I’ll be able to settle in with book 4.
