Book Review: The Case of the Missing Marquess

The Case of the Missing Marquess (Enola Holmes #1)The Case of the Missing Marquess by Nancy Springer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After watching the Enola Holmes movie on Netflix, I decided that I quite liked this twist on the world of Sherlock Holmes, and that I would read the original books, written between 2006-2010. This first book tells the same story as the movie but is quite different, and I consider it a fresh adventure on its own merit.

I’m starting to enjoy first person narratives more than I used to (I should, I wrote a novel in first person myself). It’s the perfect viewpoint to learn a lot more about Enola in her own thoughts, opinions and words. The adventure is luxuriously in-depth and plays out with no hurrying the plotline along. Its nicely immersive. I’ll be grabbing the second book very soon.
