My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A story so powerful and horror-filled that I’m grateful it was only 21 pages. But it served its purpose by showing us the extreme downside of a technology that allows travel to other places and times, by flinging the travelers mind into the body of a being on the other end. Sometimes, that other being isn’t in great situation, as we are shown in this story. I’m still shuddering.

I understand that this is a prelude to a longer novel, Ansible 15716, which I’ve already started reading. I’m hoping for a less horrific, more thoughtful novel to come. The first few pages are promising.
